Three Wheel Drive Film Trailer
Three Wheel Drive (2023) is an inspiring documentary following off-road adaptive cyclists Caroline, John, and Neil as they embark on an ambitious bothy trip in the Scottish Highlands, supported by their friends Rosie and Earl. For many people with physical disabilities, even imagining a journey into such remote terrain involves navigating a host of barriers—making this adventure both bold and hard-won from the very start.
At its heart, the film aims to show that adventure is achievable for everyone with the right planning, support, and mindset. It doesn’t have to be a grand expedition or a dramatic feat designed to inspire non-disabled people; sometimes the most powerful experiences come from the simple pleasures of spending a weekend outdoors, sharing a journey, and reaching places once thought inaccessible.
The film highlights the genuine challenges of accessing remote environments with complex physical needs, showing how determination, teamwork, and thoughtful preparation can open doors to experiences often presumed out of reach. Along the way, the riders tackle tough terrain, physical barriers, and personal fears—yet each discovers something deeply meaningful. Caroline reaches places she never thought she could, reconnecting with the Highlands after more than two decades. John rediscovers the exhilaration of adventure, with moments where the joy of the hills lifts him beyond the pain of life after his cycling accident. And Neil embraces a cycling experience that takes him to destinations he once believed were forever closed off to him.
Three Wheel Drive ultimately celebrates what becomes possible when barriers are challenged, support is shared, and adventure is reframed as something that everyone can enjoy—often closer to home, and far more simply, than we might think.
