About Adaptive Riders Collective (ARC)
What We’re All About
The Adaptive Riders Collective (ARC) is a Scottish charity with a simple, heartfelt goal: to make off-road adaptive cycling something everyone can enjoy.
We know that trail time isn’t just about riding — it’s about freedom, confidence, laughter, adventure, and feeling part of something bigger. For disabled riders, those moments can be incredibly powerful. But the reality is that mountain biking is often hard to access because of cost, equipment, location, or a lack of understanding.
That’s exactly why ARC exists.
What We Do
Activities & Riding Opportunities
We run friendly, supportive sessions, group rides, and events using off-road adaptive cycles — giving disabled riders the chance to feel the buzz of off-road cycling. Whether it’s building fitness, boosting wellbeing, meeting new people, or just getting muddy and having fun, our rides are all about community and belonging.
Sharing Knowledge & Experience
ARC works with councils, trail centres, event organisers, and outdoor organisations to help make off-road spaces more welcoming. From advice on off-road adaptive cycle fleets to creating more accessible trail options, we support others to open their doors to a wider community of riders.
Breaking Down Barriers
Off-road adaptive cycling can be pricey, complicated, and sometimes a bit isolating. We’re here to change that. We provide affordable access to equipment and activities, and we connect riders, leaders, and supporters across Scotland so no one feels like they’re doing it alone.
Advocacy & Awareness
We champion adaptive riders and raise visibility for inclusive mountain biking. ARC is here to challenge outdated ideas about who “belongs” on the trails — and to celebrate disabled riders as a vibrant, vital part of Scotland’s cycling community.
Why It Matters
Everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the outdoors. Off-road adaptive cycling can be genuinely life-changing, bringing:
Physical benefits: strength, mobility, and overall fitness
Mental benefits: confidence, joy, resilience, and time away from stress
Social benefits: shared adventures and a strong sense of community
When barriers come down, riders don’t just cycle — they thrive.
Looking Ahead
Our vision is simple: a Scotland where off-road adaptive cycling is visible, normal, and available to anyone who wants to ride. With the support of our community, partners, and funders, we’re building more opportunities, more access, and more reasons to get outside.
No rider should ever feel left behind — and with ARC, they won’t.
